4.135. How do I price engraving in linear square items?

I do a lot of engraving and would like to price the work using the linear square items plug-in in EstiMate. How do I do it?

Here is the procedure for pricing engraving in linear/square items:

1. Click Quick Quote and select Linear/Square Items.
2. Select the stock you will be engraving on from the ?Select an Item? pull-down menu. If the engraving stock in not present in the list then you will need to add it otherwise proceed to step 11.
3. To add the engraving stock to the Linear/Square Items Database, click the book icon to the right of the ?Select an item? pull down list.
4. Click the ?New? button and enter a description like 'Engraving on Stock #1'. You may also wish to choose a more specific description based on your application.
5. Select your supplier if desired or create a new supplier record by clicking the book icon to the right of the supplier drop down box.
6. Select ?Square? and ?Inches? respectively from the ?This item is sold in? drop down boxes.
7. Enter your cost per unit. NOTE: you have up to four (4) decimal places to use in this field.
8. Enter the desired markup and press the Tab key. EstiMate will automatically calculate the selling price for you.
9. Click the green OK check mark to return to the Linear/Square items database.
10. Click the green OK check mark once again to return to the Linear/Square items quotation screen.
11. Select the stock you will be engraving on from the ?Select an Item? pull-down menu.
12. Enter the height and width of the item being engraved and the quantity. In the description field indicate the color(s) or other data needed to describe the item being engraved.
14. Click the green OK check mark to add the item to the estimate.
15. The Retail Items section of EstiMate can be used if you need to add other parts to create the final piece.
