4.147. How do I price spray-in bedliners for pickup trucks?

I am spraying in bedliners for pickup trucks and would like to know how I price this process including all prep work and the actual spraying of the bedliner material itself.

This tutorial assumes you will be doing the following procedures:

· Taping the vehicle, covering the vehicle with plastic to prevent overspray.
· Prep the truck bed, sandpapering it and wiping with acetone.
· Spraying in the adhesive.
· Spraying of bedliner material with texture gun.

All-In-One Pricing Method

1. On EstiMate?s main screen click Edit Data Files > Ingredients > Substrates.
2. Click the New button to create a new substrate. Enter a description like ?Customer supplied Truck Bed? and enter a cost of .50 and a markup of 100%. This covers you for your supplies that are needed for the prep work like sandpaper and acetone. Click the green OK checkmark twice to save and exit the database.
3. Click Edit Data Files > Ingredients > Vinyls.
4. Click the New button to create a new ?Vinyl? in this case we will be actually inputting the adhesive kit.
5. Input a description like ?Spray Adhesive?. Select or add a supplier if desired and input a height and width that multiply out to the total squarefoot coverage of the adhesive kit. Input your cost for the kit and your desired markup. Press the green OK checkmark once to save.
6. Click the New button to create a new ?Vinyl? in this case we will be actually inputting the bedliner kit.
7. Input a description like ?Bedliner kit?; Select or add a supplier if desired and input a height and width that multiply out to the total square foot coverage of the bedliner kit. Input your cost for the kit and your desired markup. Press the green OK checkmark twice to save and exit the database.
8. From EstiMate?s main screen click New Estimate > Add Item > Vinyl Signs.
9. From the substrate dropdown select the ?Customer Supplied Truck Bed? entry you created.
10. Enter the quantity and input the truck bed height and width. Since you are not doing the underside of the bed, the sides field would have the numeral 1.
11. From the first vinyl dropdown choose the bedliner adhesive and place the coverage on 100%.
12. Click the 2nd vinyl dropdown and choose the bedliner kit and place the coverage on 100%
13. Click the calculate total button. Congratulations! You have now priced a spray in bedliner!

Q and A:

Q: The price estimate calculates is too low how can I get the pricing where it needs to be?
A: Consider a higher markup on materials or adding more production time using the general difficulty level.

Q: I do this type of work over-and-over, do I need to create a new estimate from scratch every time?
A: No. You can create a template that will speed up the process and be re-usable for repeat work. Information on creating templates is located at: http://www.pricingmadeeasy.com/estimate/support/kbase_entry.php?id=1
