Home → EstiMate Version 1 → How Do I... → How do I transfer EstiMate data between shop and home?
You can transfer your EstiMate data back and forth from work and home easily by following the method below:
IMPORTANT: In order for the method outlined below to work no one can be quoting on the shop computer while you are quoting at home and likewise there can be no quoting on the home system while someone is quoting on the shop system.
1. At a convenient time after quoting has been completed for the day at the shop location, backup your EstiMate data on some sort of portable media like CD-RW, Zip, or flash drive.
Backup instructions are as follows:
A. Click Management > backup-restore data files.
B. Click the backup button.
C. Choose a location to save the file.
D. Name the file and click save.
E. Press close when the backup is completed.
2. Take the media to the home system and restore it into your copy of EstiMate there. Restoration instructions are as follows:
A. Insert your media into the drive or port on your computer.
B. On EstiMate's main screen click management > backup-restore.
C. Click the restore tab and then click the restore button. An open screen will come up.
D. Find the backup file.
E. Click the open button to restore your data from the backup. NOTE: this will overwrite any data files your are currently using.
3. Do the necessary quoting on the home system and backup your data when finished using the steps outlined in step one.
4. Take your backup media to the office the next day before anyone begins quoting and restore it into your main system using restoration instructions outlined in step two.
The main system will now have all the data from the previous day PLUS the quotes or data entry you did at home.
You can repeat this procedure as often as desired.

Q & A:
Q: Why can no one be quoting while I'm quoting?
A: Because when you restore the data it will overrite whatever is currently in the system. So if someone has been quoting at the office while you are quoting at home, when you restore the data you backed up from home it will overrite whatever they have done at the office and they will need to re-enter it.
Q: When backing up it asks for disk #2,3 etc. What do I do?
A: Press OK.
